FAQ
How do I know if we're the right fit?
That’s a great question! I think it’ll help if I tell you a little bit about how I work:
I invest time to get to know your organization so I can write in a style and tone that works for you, and so I can tell your story clearly to your audience.
My writing is for you, so you can feel comfortable telling me exactly what you need, and we'll work together until it’s just right.
I am committed to your deadlines and making sure we meet your budget.
I write for clients in tech, the arts, healthcare, and education, along with a range of other non-profits and small-to-medium-sized businesses. And I’m always up for learning about something new!
What kinds of clients do you write for?
Let’s chat! During our first conversation, you can let me know what you need. Are you looking for key messages to guide all of your communications? Do you need a blog post, a video, or some snappy copy for your app? Looking for an editor to make sure your blog is well written and fun to read? Once we talk, I’ll develop a plan for the copy you need.
I need copy. Where do we start?
Messaging is an opportunity to figure out what you really want to say. I lead workshops to develop simple, concise key messages that guide your written materials toward your communications goals. Messaging is ideal for new companies just getting started, or for any organization that’s grown out of its current materials and needs to figure out who they are and what they want to communicate.
What’s messaging? Do I need that, too?
I bill at an hourly rate. Once we talk about what you need, I’ll create a proposal with projected hours. As we go, I’ll only bill you for the hours I work. If we’re still in the thick of a project and we start to approach our estimate, I’ll let you know in advance so you’ll never be surprised by an invoice.
How do you bill for your services?
Yes! I’d love to share my work with you. Contact me about your project and I’ll put together a collection of writing samples just for you.
Can I read some writing samples?
I work just outside of Washington, D.C., but my clients are all over. If you’re close, let’s meet in person. if not, a long-distance relationship is great, too!
Where are you?
I wish I could, but those aren’t my talents. I’d be happy to connect you with some fabulous colleagues who can help.
